My husband got this subscription for me, so I wasn't aware of the bad reviews. But I have to chime in with Beth, Melissa, and Ardella in saying that I was extremely disappointed. I also got several back issues, so that my "one year subscription" turned out to be three back issues and three new issues.

When I first got the back issues, I thought it was actually pretty cool since I assumed I'd be getting a full year's subscription (6 issues), plus a handful of back issues. You know, kind of a bonus. No. I just got three old ones and three new ones. That's it. I'm completely annoyed.

The articles are good in that they do make for light reading: a nice refresher when you're exhausted at the end of the day. But most either weren't particulary relevant to my practice (adult med-surg), or they were something that most nurses probably already get as part of their annual employee training at work, or they just weren't especially insightful. National Geographic Little Kids Top Quality

My daughter has a lot of fun with this magazine. After enjoying the pictures and "reading", it took her almost a week to get around to the animal cards which she took great joy in carefully cutting out (disdaining to tear them out like designed). All in all, a great little magazine which is not too much, not too little; in fact, it's just right!

Currently, July 2009, they have 1 year, 6 issues for $15 and 2 years, 12 issues for $25. These are listed on the tear-out subscription cards from one of the magazines I picked up at the store. If you go to the NatGeo for LitKids website they only have the one year price listed. If you intend to get two years, it is a better deal to buy with the card. (Unless, of course, Amazon's price of $24.95 for 1 year, 6 issues is a typo and they actually mean 2 years, which I doubt.) Do it Yourself (1-year) Immediately

This is my favorite magazine and the only one that I will subscribe to again and again. It has wonderful projects that are reasonably inexpensive. The pictures are colorful and beautiful. In one section, they'll take something (for instance, a plain coffee table) and do it three different ways to give you some options on how you would like to do it to fit into your decor. I haven't found a project yet that I wouldn't want to do in this magazine.

The downside is that it only comes bi-monthly. I would sure love to see it in my mailbox every month, or even every other week for that matter!

This is the most beautiful devotional magazine I've ever seen. There are original meditations for prayer, fine essays, and inspirational prayers. The essays on the lives of the saints are wonderful and written for the layperson. The sacred art is faithfully reproduced.

The entire publication is fantastic and shows a level of devotion to detail that you rarely see in periodicals today. In an age of "People" magazine and other crass material, this gorgeous magazine stands out like a beacon.

This is absolutely a perfect gift for any Catholic. The Amazon price is fantastic. I was not able to find it cheaper anywhere else, although if you go to the publisher's main webpage (just search for Magnificat on the web and you'll find it) you can order a subscription for a longer period and the per-issue price goes down. You can get up to 50% off the cover price if you renew in advance for 4 years on the publisher's website. That's extremely reasonable for such a beautiful magazine. So if you know that you are going to continue to love this magazine, I would recommend renewing directly from the publisher so you can save some money.

I am sending gift subscriptions to at least three family members this year.

We started getting this when my daughter was 2. She enjoyed the stories and pictures. Now that she is 3, she is able to fully enjoy what it has to offer- can act out the animals, and complete the interactive games. I am thrilled to read her something that is varied and interesting. Cheap Under The Radar

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered it. I was on a magazine shopping binge and saw some of the great reviews along with the high rating, so I gave it a shot.

I already discovered 3 artists that I really dig, that I wouldn't otherwise have ever known about. AND those were just from the cd sampler, I've yet to fully go thru all of the magazine's hundreds of reviews (or so it seems). There are more than plenty of reviews on truly indie artists, from many genres and sub genres. There's so many I really don't know where to begin.

My only complaint is, the font is very small throughout the magazine. I have to hold the magazine close to me in order to read it.

I was disheartened to read multiple reviewer's comments that it took several months for their subscription to arrive, and Amazon's own statement on the product page that it would take 12-16 weeks to ship. US News has been transformed from a weekly general news magazine into a monthly magazine with each edition focused on a specific theme. I have found this shift to be mostly negative for the readers and would not recommend this magazine.

In the switch from a weekly magazine to a monthly magazine, I expected an increase in the quality of the articles. However, I found the improvement to be only marginally better. This most recent move was a cost cutting decision that benefited only the owners of the magazine and not the readers. I feel largely cheated since I paid for a weekly magazine and have been left with a monthly magazine that has become irrelevant to me.

With each issue focused on a specific theme, I have found the issues largely hit or miss. For example, the most recent issue focused on retirement. Personally, I am not interested in reading about locations to retire.

The only thing left, that is good about US News is their rankings into Hospitals, Healthcare, and Colleges that provide readers insight and advice into the best healthcare plans, or college to adopt. Get more detail about U.S. News & World Report.
