Zoobooks Review

When my children were young, I subscribed to "Zoobooks", and my children loved them. The magazine is so informative and full of interesting facts and great diagrams and pictures. I purchased a subscription to "Zoobooks" for my daughter, now a second grade teacher. She shares the copies with her students, and they love them. This magazine would make a great gift for a grandchild or elementary teacher.Get more detail about Zoobooks.

Martha Stewart Weddings Top Quality

If I could give this magazine more than 5 stars, I would. Martha helped me organize, plan, decorate, and personalize my wedding with her creative and affordable do-it-yourself ideas. With all the other bridal magazines out there that simply consist of advertisements and small articles on meaningless details, or things even a man would know about weddings, MSW stands out from the pack, and thank goodness. I am a graphic designer and wanted my wedding to be personalized and unique, and, well, "me." This magazine has great ways to pull your ideas together for the full package - not just how to create name cards for example, but templates for you to take and make your own. Every issue I read cover to cover, and then went back for more. Don't waste your time and money on any other bridal magazine unless you just care about what nail color is hot for brides, or the best way to wear your hair if it is long... blah blah blah. This is it, as a recently wed bride, I swear by it.Get more detail about Martha Stewart Weddings.

The Nation This instant

Beware....as much as the Nation is a progressive magazine, printed on recycled paper, and a honest view of the news, It also violates your privacy by selling or giving away your name and address to MANY other companies. If you code your name with say a N for the Nation you will soon start receiving lots of junk mail wanting donations from you and you can clearly see where they have come from. I asked the Nation NOT TO SHARE our name and address when I subscribed to them and they clearly violated this request, and can't even take the time to respond to my letters to them about this policy. As much as I wanted to support them and their great writers, I stopped my subscription with them. The junk mail coded with a N is still coming. This is just wrong for such a progressive magazine.Get more detail about The Nation.

The New Yorker (2-year) Decide Now

You simply cannot find a contemporary American magazine that delivers a better and more satisfying combination of political insight, current events, humor and arts. Despite its name, the magazine is not Manhattan-centered. Despite its image, it is not a stodgy relic from another generation but very current and very topical. Try it. Skip straight to Talk of the Town and you will be hooked.Get more detail about The New Yorker (2-year).

Metropolitan Home Right now

Initially I loved this magazine - the incredible interiors, the beautiful photography - but quickly grew disenchanted. I find very little variance among the issues. The houses or apartments shown all seem to share the same characteristics - for example very modern and open, large floor to ceiling windows. The furniture and artwork seem to fall within a very limited set of choices. Quite frankly, there is lack of imagination here. Additionally, it is not useful for those of us who love modern design but own more `traditionally' structured houses and condos. Get more detail about Metropolitan Home.

Lowest Price People en Espanol (1-year)

I have been renewing my subscription to People en Espanol for over 3 years now through Amazon. I just happened to visit my grandmother (September 2009) and ask her how she liked her magazines. I didn't see them out anywhere in her stash of reading materials. She said that she hadn't received one since October 2008. I immediately called the magazine's customer service. They stated that they had incorrectly recorded the address using Avenue instead of Drive (as listed in the order) and the magazine was noted as undeliverable since October 2008. They agreed to extend my subscription for the 11 month difference. Don't get me wrong, this is a great magazine, I was just disappointed that they failed to notify me (at my billing address, which is different than the shipping address) that my magazine "gift" was undeliverable. Thank goodness for grandmother's memory. I will not renew this year.Get more detail about People en Espanol (1-year).

Save National Geographic Traveler

I gave these as gifts to two adult family members who love to travel. They have thanked me a couple of times since saying they enjoy learning about new places they can travel and the information in the magazine is fascinating. Plus, they think of us every time a new issue arrives.Get more detail about National Geographic Traveler.

Discount MacLife (1-year)

Being new to the Apple experience I thought this might be helpful. It is not. I am not the most computer savvy person but I do use a windows based PC with the standard Office apps every day. This magazine assumes a higher level of MAC awareness then I possess. I was hoping for more of an introduction to using the different mac apps. I will not renew this.Get more detail about MacLife (1-year).

Cheapest Official Xbox Magazine [with DVD] (1-year)

I don't want to spend much time writing this review. But anyways...

OXM is a decent magazine, comparing Amazon's price to what you pay retail, is night and day. The magazine is "definitely" not worth $8-10 per issue. The $3 or less, that Amazon charges is about where it should be. But yeah, I can't really even say this magazine is worth $3 an issue. It's about half-filled with advertising, and the other half is only about 30 pages of information that's already available on the web.Get more detail about Official Xbox Magazine [with DVD] (1-year).

Cheap Psychology Today

Yes, the magazine has "risque" covers, but that's to get people to pick it up. And then, hopefully, someone who wouldn't have otherwise read a factual, informational, psychological magazine will read it. I feel the stories are designed to be interesting to a wide range of people, and they keep the diction simple enough so that even if you're not a psych student you can make sense of it. I also think the stories bring relevance to psychology - it's not all about people with disorders and treatments, etc - it relates to day-to-day thought processes and behavior. Besides, if you're a psychology student, you shouldn't be expecting this magazine to substitute a textbook or published study. I'm a psychology student, and I find the articles refreshing - they're informative, relevant to society, thought-provoking, and teach without shoving theory after theory down your throat.Get more detail about Psychology Today.
